Scraps of Color Scrapbook Pajama Party

Tonight, I joined the ladies of Scraps of Color in a fun Scrapbook Pajama Party. It was fun to scrapbook in my pajamas online using a predefined sketch and list of supplies. As a digital scrapbooker, I was challenged to create the sketch digitally and design along with everyone else. It was even more exciting that, ClassyGirl, flipped the script on us by turning the sketch 90 degrees to the right. My layout inside of StoryBook Creator then had to be turned as well which was not just a rotate. It required the images to be realigned as well within the software. I love to think outside of the box, this truly happened while ClassyGirl taught her traditional layout. The other challenge for this layout was to use the cutter tools to tear the edges of the page. What fun!!!!

Another Fun Beach Layout

In celebration of my forty eighth birthday, I traveled to my home state of California for a week to visit my family and best friend. I spent the time scrapbooking with friends, driving up the coast of California, visiting my in-laws, cousins, relaxing and truly enjoying my best friend. On my drive up to Central Coast California, my cousin and I stopped at our family stop, the Malibu Rock. For years, our family has stopped at this rock on our travels up and down the coast. For us, it brought back memories of our children in their youth and time spent together. I love this layout because it shows my favorite cousin and I together in the beauty of this spot on Pacific Coast Hwy. I also enjoyed trying one of Pixel2Pages technique challenges that keep motivated. In this photo, I distorted the wave of the ocean a little to give it some motion.  I also, use a portion of a template for the photos and challenged myself with some digital titling in Creative Memories StoryBook Creator which has become my ultimate favorite tool.  I hope you enjoy the layout as must as I enjoyed creating it.

I am now a Creative Memories Consultant!!!

Layout done in Storybook Creator 4.0 - Ms. Rae on the Pacific watching herself in the world.

Hi Everyone,

After much prayer and thought, I have joined the Creative Memories family. I'm so excited. It's so funny but its actually where I got my start scrapbooking over 20 years ago. I look at my daughter and can't believe she's 23 and I started when she was a baby... making a CM album that is my pride and joy today. I joined CM because I also love digital scrapbooking and their Storybook Creator Software has me hooked. I've loved Photoshop for years but this program gets me going fast and does so much that I can't stop using it.

I also have a wonderful support team that I already enjoy working with.

Watch as I share my creative ideas digitally as well as traditionally. Feel free to share your scrapbooking ideas, questions and projects. Also visit my website www.myCMsite.com/MsRaes for all the great products that Creative Memories has to offer.  Thanks again for all your love and support of my endeavors over the years.  Be blessed.

The Digital Scrapbook Teacher

As promised here is one layout created from following Patty's book. Using a Photoshop Element template I was able to make this beautiful page of me enjoying the Pacific Ocean in Santa Barbara, California on a visit last year.

It demonstrates how to make words out of your photos and blend them together. Its a great effect that I plan to use over again with other techniques.

Enjoy!

CKC Houston - Great Show!!!

Here's a Digital layout I had fun with. It challenged me with all the differnt layers, elements and effects. The basic template is from thedigitalscrapbookteacher, most papers are from Scrap Girls Refresh kits and elements from Persnickety Prints. Very fun layout.

I attended Creating Keepsakes Convention - Houston in Woodlands, Texas the weekend of June 15 and had such a marvelous time. After talking with my cousin, Stephanie, I decided to sign up for digital scrapbooking classes. I wanted to learn some Photoshop Element tricks so I took TheDigitalScrapbookTeacher classes by Patty Debowski. Boy, was I in for a treat. I have been using PSE for years doing graphic design work but Patty showed me so much more and showed me ways to make my scrapbooking much more intricate. She made PSE easy to understand for the novice as well as the experienced. After taking 2 classes, I signed up for a third class and got several projects completed. The freebies you receive from Patty alone make taking the course worth it. It pays for itself not to take away from the knowledge you gain. Patty will not be teaching at shows after this year but if you can take one of her classes in California or online, I recommend you do. Also her templates are wonderful.  Here's a layout I did with one of her templates. I recommend you check out her book as well.

I worked the crops 2 nights and in 2 classrooms at the convention and had so much fun. The CKC crew is an awesome group and I enjoy working with them when they come to town. The gifts and freebies they give to volunteers are appreciated but I would do it just for fun. They always need volunteers. Sign up for a show that is near you. You will not regret it.

Awesome Retreat

A few weeks ago, I attended the Tomball Scrapbooking Retreat at Willowcreek Retreat Center here in Texas. I had an awesome time. It was an opportunity for me to meet other scrapbookers in the area, find people that enjoy this hobby, get some layouts done and relax for a few days. Well if you have ever been to a scrapbooking retreat it is funny how those things happen.

As peaceful and as beautiful as the amenities were, some of us do not do much relaxing. We have been looking forward to uninterrupted scrapbooking time so we usually stay up late if we go to bed at all. I believe one night I went to bed at 2am. The fun part was that when I did, it was a peaceful night in a beautiful setting. Willowcreek is a beautiful location. Carla, the owner, was on hand and provided all of the food which was delicious.

Now, I must admit, I am a very finicky eater. Those that know me well, know I do not do many vegetables and can eat the same food everyday. (please do not laugh, to know me is to love me. lol)  Even though they cooked asparagus, one night I was able to find something delicious to eat. I was a happy scrapper!

Well, I had preplanned several layouts for the grandkids albums. Yeah...... I was organized!!!! Ok, sorry I digressed. Anyway, I had all these layouts preplanned, knowing that as detailed as I get, I would only get a few done but I was prepared just in case. I brought my laptop because I am a hybrid scrapbooker. I love to incorporate my computer into my scrapbooking. Well, most of the ladies there were Creative Memories ladies. Some were using CM Storybook Maker and Memory Manager.  OHHHHHHH WOW, was I in for it. I fell in love. I love Photoshop Elements (and still do), but this was a cool program for making books quickly and getting some of those pictures that I do not know when I will ever get done. So I wanted to learn more. I spent the weekend with a new friend learning Storybook Maker and organizing my 3000 digital photos on my laptop into Memory Manager. I love that I can find my photos now.  I had my own system for the past 6 or so years but this makes it so much easier. I understand PSE can do all that too and I will explain my thoughts on that later but this was a cool program for me for the price. Note I still use PSE, I can not give it up. If you are looking to go digital and have been scared this is a fun place to look. No I am not a CM demonstrator. Hahahahaha. If you want to go serious digital, we will talk PSE later.

So I had a fun weekend. 3 beautiful days spent making friends. Did I get any layouts done, you ask? I did get 2 traditional layouts done that I love. Did I accomplish anything? TONS!!!! All those photos are organized and tagged on my computer and I made two 5x7 20 page storybooks for my grandkids. YEAH!

Watch for photos.....

MIA Again!!!! I know, I'm sorry. I'm BACKKKKKKK!

I know I know.....

I have been MIA again....  Life happens. Long story short. I moved from Beaumont to Conroe Texas. I'm still in the Tax business but I have been busy. Still taking pictures but not as much scrapbooking as I would like.

Well, to give myself a kick start, I treated myself to a retreat. I decided that I needed others to scrapbook with and motivation to just get moving. I also need to get my scrapbook room reorganized. So over the next few weeks you will watch my before and after Scrap Space transformation. I'm almost afraid to post the before photos but I think if I show you the before pictures now, you can be my motivation to get the space done. HELP I NEED IT.

I'm so bad I just set up a table in my bedroom when I have a whole room to myself. Is there a reality show just for Scrappers?  They can come into our homes and get us organized, make us go to bed when we stay up late at night when we stay up late working on that project, help us get rid of those supplies we will never use, or remind us to cook dinner for our spouses/significant others.  That's the show I need to watch.  Well, watch my next post, I will tell you all about my fabulous weekend at the Tomball Scrapbooking Retreat at Willowcreek Retreat Center in Tomball, Texas.

Stamping with Auntie Amy stamps

I had the awesome experience of attending the Heirloom Productions Stamping Show in Grapevine, Texas this past weekend and reuniting with my great friends, Auntie Amy and Jennifer of Auntie Amy Rubber Stamps and Scrapbooks of Riverside, California. If you haven't read my precious post about these wonderful ladies please do. This time I got an opportunity to learn more about their great stamps. As a Stampin Up Demonstrator I'm always looking for an opportunity to learn ways to use my stamps, and Jennifer definitely always seems to be willing to show great techniques and answers questions. Also they both are a hoot to be around. I introduced the Riverside ladies to my new Texas buddies, the Stampin, Scrappin Heifers. That's Ms. Darlene, Ms. Sandy and I. Don't ask!!! Somehow we've become the Heifers and we're traveling around Texas having a great time.

I made this beautiful card as soon as I got home using Auntie Amy's Flower filled Kerr's jar stamp and all my other Stampin Up goodies and had a ball. I can't wait to drop it in the mail to my good friend who has a birthday coming up.

Several of the flowers that were in the front of the image I popped them up with Stampin' dimensionals by Stampin Up to give the image depth after the entire image was embossed in black ink. Using Stampin Up's Aqua Painters and various ink pads, I colored in the stamped image. The image was enhanced with glitter with Stampin Up Crystal Effect and glitters. The center of some flowers feature Robin Nests Dew Drops to give them a glossy effect. To give a finished look, I added a Lady Bug button to the card to complete the card. I must say I love the detail of the image and totally enjoyed making this card. I felt like I was designing a masterpiece. Thanks Auntie Amy for a beautiful image and Jennifer for all the great ideas you shared with me over the weekend. I look forward to another great time with you wonderful and silly ladies. By the way, here's a picture of us silly ladies clowning with Melissa of The Rubber Cafe.

Reason for being Missing in Action

What a busy couple of weeks but I admit with the entrance of this little beauty into my world it's been fun. It's been over 20 years since I had a little one under foot. She has really turned my world upside down. She's teething and starting to crawl at 5 months. Granny was not prepared for this little one. Oh by the way, I bought this little hat to get the sun off her and we had to take a picture before she decided to take it off. lol

So I apologize for being missing in action. I will return shortly with some creative ideas featuring all the great new items from the NEW Stampin Up Catalog. Keep watching. Don't forget to catch me on Facebook as well.
